Amazing Animal Stories

This week we are continuing on the theme of biographies, not about people so much but biographies about special animals and their relationships with their owners.

It's All About Treo: Life and War With The World's Bravest Dog by Dave Heyhoe.

Treo is the world's most highly decorated dog, a dog trained and sent to war against the Taliban, sniffing out bombs in Afghanistan.  This is the story of an unbreakable bond formed with his handler Sgt. Dave Heyhoe. A story that will grip you from the very beginning, a story of remarkable bravery, tragedy and victory and of a man and his best friend as they join forces to ensure that no lives are lost.

If you love to read about animals and their amazing contribution to our lives you might to like to check out the following titles in our catalogue:
  • Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog by John Grogan
  • Horrie the War Dog: the story of Australia's most famous Dog by Roland Perry

  • The Girl With No Name: the incredible true story of a child raised by monkeys by Marina Chapman

I have just read the most wonderful book, it is called
The Puppy that came for Christmas and stayed by Megan Rix.
If you are not a dog person like myself this will make you fall in love with dogs. It is based on a woman trying to get pregnant and tries everything. She then finds solace in being a puppy parent for assistance Dogs who help the disabled. The things the dogs can do is truly amazing. Well worth a read.
